Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are a driving force at Y.O.U.T.H. of Wilson County,
giving generously of their time, talents, and resources in a variety
of ways.

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED:
Mentor a young person:
- Spend time with a young person who needs a positive adult role
model
- Provide support, counsel, friendship, and skill development
- Commit 2 hours per week or 8 hours a month for one year to spend with your young
friend
- Must be 18 years or older and have a valid NC driver's license
- Reliable transportation and a criminal background check are required
- Training and on-going support are provided
Involve your civic club, youth group or other organization:
- Organize a group mentoring project
- Sponsor a youth to attend summer camp
- Organize a hands-on project
- Provide a work opportunity for a young person looking for employment
- Become a certified Y.O.U.T.H. of Wilson Community Service worksite
Be a One-Time Do-Gooder: (Short-term or one-time assignments)
- Clerical support
- Computer and technology support
- "Adopting" a family or child for the holidays
- Provide school supplies
- Help tutor a child
Organize a Charity of Choice Event:
- Designate Y.O.U.T.H. of Wilson County as your charity of choice
by organizing a workplace or organization fundraiser, bake sale,
food drive, yard sale, or campaign
Internships:
- Gain valuable experience working with "at-risk" youth in our
community service/restitution program and the one-on-one mentoring
program. This is an unpaid position but a great opportunity to get experience in the criminal justice, social work, or other human services field.
Be a Board Member:
- Bring your skills, knowledge and wisdom to Y.O.W.
- Attend one monthly board meeting per month from 5:30 to 6:30
pm the first Wednesday of each month
- Participate in fundraising events we hold
